New Stereoscopic Imagery Available From DigitalGlobe
With the launch of DigitalGlobe's (link) Worldview-1 (link) satellite, we now have access to a new and easy-to-collect source of elevation data.
Because it is much nimbler than DigitalGlobe's older QuickBird (link) satellite, WorldView-1 is capable of capturing more than one image of the same points on the ground. Because we know the angle at which these images are taken, we are able to use triangulation to create elevation models over the entire scene captured by WorldView-1.
With accurate, high-resolution elevation data available, our customers will be better able to plan for new developments, assess storm water conditions and create models of on-the-ground conditions.
